Volunteer Opportunities

The remarkable achievements of the wildlife conservation movement are a testament to the passion and commitment of thousands of dedicated volunteers. 

Volunteering for the Society is a great way to develop your skills in the wildlife conservation sector. Opportunities are available on a flexible or ad hoc basis. For example, when you have time available or specific needs or eventualities arise. These might include:

  • Joining the Wildlife Conservation Committee, 
  • Joining the Publication Committee,
  • Providing assistance with social media,
  • Helping with office/administrative duties,
  • Assisting the society with its events/functions,
  • Providing marketing and fundraising assistance, and
  • Helping with educational activities and projects.

Join our Wildlife Conservation Committee

Context:

We seek assistance with researching and collecting data on Endangered species for review.

Purpose:

Help the Society source information on Australia’s threatened species (flora and fauna) and habitats.  We seek to find any gaps that need to be filled and if there are any potential ways that the Society can help fill these gaps.

What you will receive:

  • Satisfaction - knowing that you are taking action and contributing to the conservation of Australia’s wildlife.

Join our Publication Committee

Context:

Assist the Editor with sourcing articles for inclusion in Australian Wildlife.

Purpose:

Help the Society source articles for inclusion in Australian Wildlife.  Contribute to proofreading publication material and assist with other publication ideas arising from the Publication Committee meetings.

What you will receive:

  • Satisfaction - knowing that you are contributing to increasing knowledge of the importance of conserving Australia’s wildlife for future generations.

Assist with Social Media

Context:

We are seeking some assistance with our Facebook Photography page and YouTube channel.

Purpose:

Facebook - Help the Society share, create, and post images of native wildlife - both flora and fauna.

YouTube - Help the Society create video content on the importance of preserving native species, from cute video content that helps to share an important message to informative content that encourages people to participate in wildlife conservation action.

What you will receive:

  • Satisfaction - contribute to the knowledge and conservation of Australia’s native wildlife.

Provide Office Assistance

Context:

Would you like to lend a hand at the National Head Office?

Purpose:

Assist the National Office Manager and Clerical Assistant with various administrative duties at our National Head Office in Hurstville, NSW.
